VIVID NEWS: The Avengers Movie Trailer

This week saw the release of the first official trailer for The AvengersWatch it below!

The Avengers brings together a group of superheroes including Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) Thor (Chris Hemsworth), The Incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and Captain America (Chris Evans), in a battle to save the world. Or rather, Avenge it.

Written and directed by Joss Whedon, The Avengers is expected to feature Whedon’s trademark witty and humorous dialogue while also deliver some impressive action sequence.   The Avengers also stars Scarlett Johanson, Cobie Smulders, Samuel L Jackson, and Jeremy Renner

The Avengers has been in the pipeline since 2005, when it was decided that the superhero collective film would be a culmination of a series of individual superhero films focussing on the key characters The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, Captain America and Thor.  The individual films achieved varying successes, Iron Man proving to be the most popular instalment of the franchise.

The Avengers was met with a variety of setbacks including the 2007-2008 Writer’s Guild of America strike and numerous directors including Jon Favreau signing and then passing on the project. Whedon was attached to the project in January 2010 and filming has been running since April 2011.

The Avengers is scheduled for release in May 2012.
